AFL NOTES: Daleroy Stewart came on strong in his second AFL season for the Dallas Desperados as he became a solid starter on the defensive line and provided a consistent force that he looks to continue to build upon in 2008. Stewart signed with the Desperados on Oct. 10, 2005 in order to provide the team with a big, solid pass rushing defensive lineman with professional experience.

AFL 2007 (Dallas): Stewart started 12 games and the team's playoff contest at nose tackle to record nine tackles, 1.5 sacks, a tackle for loss, two passes defensed, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. Stewart made his first career start at New York (3/4). He was inactive at Kansas City (3/16). At Orlando (3/26) Stewart notched his first career sack along with 2.5 tackles and one forced fumble. He registered his first career fumble recovery and had one tackle against Austin (3/31). He was inactive against Columbus (4/5). At Utah (5/4) Stewart posted two tackles and one pass defensed. He had 1.5 tackles and one forced fumble at Philadelphia (6/1). Stewart recorded a half sack against New York (6/16). He made his first career AFL playoff start against Columbus (7/7) in the Divisional Playoff Game and made one tackle.

AFL 2006 (Dallas): Stewart finished his first indoor season with 1.5 tackles and one tackle for a loss in five games in a reserve capacity. In the season opener against Kansas City (1/29), Stewart made his AFL debut as a reserve, but did not post any statistics. At Utah (2/4) he filled in for James Cannida but did not record any statistics. At Columbus(2/11) he once again saw time as a reserve and assisted on a tackle. Stewart was inactive for the next three games: against Austin (2/17), against Las Vegas (2/25) and at Chicago (3/5). Stewart returned to action at Tampa Bay (3/12) and recorded his first career tackle and tackle for a loss. Stewart was placed on Reserve/Injured with a hand injury on March 18. He was activated on May 11 and saw time as reserve against New York (5/12) recording one tackle.

OTHER PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE: 2005 - Stewart signed with the Houston Texans on April 20 but was released at the end of training camp. 2004 - Stewart went to camp with the Dallas Cowboys but was released after the first week of the regular season. He was claimed off waivers by the San Francisco 49ers and saw time in nine games, posting eight tackles. 2003 - Stewart played in 15 games for the Cowboys and posted a career high 17 tackles with 1.5 sacks and a pass breakup. 2002 - Stewart was a game day deactivation for all 16 games for the Cowboys. 2001 - Stewart was drafted in the sixth round (171st overall) of the NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys. He was placed on the Reserve/Non-Football Injury list (shoulder) on Aug. 28. He later suffered a herniated disk in his back during rehab and was placed on Reserve/Injured on Dec. 4.

COLLEGE: As a senior, Stewart earned his fourth letter, helping the Golden Eagles rank second in the nation in total defense, posting 38 tackles and four sacks. As a junior, Stewart notched a career-high 47 tackles. Stewart finished his sophomore campaign with 26 tackles as a reserve defensive tackle. As a true freshman, Stewart recorded 10 tackles as a reserve.

PERSONAL: A business administration major, Stewart was an all-state selection after recording 95 tackles, including 13 for losses and seven sacks as a senior at Vero Beach, Fla., High School. He was a member of the CompUSA Super Senior Team and was selected to play in the Georgia/Florida All-Star Game. He helped his high school team to a 23-3 record over his final two seasons and ranked among the best in the state in the discus and shot put for Vero Beach's track and field team. As a professional football player, Stewart has donated his time serving an early Thanksgiving dinner to homeless men and women at The Salvation Army, visited with young oncology patients at Children's Medical Center Dallas, played Bingo with senior citizens and worked with youth participating in after school programs at the Boys & Girls Club. While with the Desperados, Stewart has made frequent trips to Boys and Girls Clubs as a part of the Desperados Player Impact Program - an annual outreach initiative that provides positive role models to at-risk youth.
