AFL NOTES: Cody Douglas signed with the Desperados on June 6, 2008 to add depth to the offensive line for the late push
in the regular season and into the postseason. Douglas, an AFL rookie, spent time with the Columbus Destoyers in 2008, playing
in one game with one start and caught a 29-yard pass before he was released on May 27, 2008.
AFL 2008 (Columbus): Douglas played in one game with one start for the Destroyers, catching a 29-yard pass against Tampa
Bay (4/5). He was activated and released on May 27. Douglas was placed on Reserve/Injured on April 11. He originally signed with
Columbus on December 8, 2007.
OTHER EXPERIENCE: 2007 - Douglas was released by the Tennesse Titans on August 9. He was signed
by the Titans on January 13 and was allocated by Tennessee to the Cologne Centurions of NFL Europa during the spring where
he started at right guard. 2006 - Douglas spent time on the Houston Texans practice squad from October 9-23. He was released
by Tennessee on September 3. Douglas originally signed with Tennessee as an undrafted free agent on May 4.
COLLEGE: Douglas was a four-year letterman at Tennessee where he played in 45 games with 24 starts. He was named 2005
Preseasons second-team All-SEC by coaches and team co-captains during his senior seasons while plyaing in 11 games with nine
starts. Douglas played in 12 games with six starts as a junior. He played in 13 games with nine starts at right guard as a sophomore.
Douglas played in nine games at left tackle as a freshman.
PERSONAL: Douglas was named All-America by PrepStar and Tom Lemming while also being selected third-team All-State
as a junior and first team as a senior at La Marque (Texas) High School. He also earned All-District and All-County by Galveston
Daily News, first-team All-Mainland Texas (Gulf Coast) during his junior and senior seasons and played in the U.S. Army All-
America Bowl. Douglas was named Speed and Strength All-America and competed in powerlifting, with a best combined mark of
1,700 pounds and was also a Region 4 powerlifting champ while finishing third in state. He also was one of five winners of th
eFranklin D. Watkins Award, given to the nation's top African-American scholar athletes each year.
