Jerry Jones, Jr., a key member of the Dallas Cowboys front office since 1996, is the driving force behind the Dallas Desperados. As President and General Manager of the team, Jones oversees all aspects of the club's daily operations. In addition to his role with the club, he is active in committees at the league level as the Chairman of the AFL Properties Committee and as a member of the AFL Board of Directors and the Executive Committee.

His efforts in bringing indoor football back to Dallas helped the Desperados create their own identity, while expanding the brand image of the entire Cowboys organization in the Dallas-Ft. Worth sports landscape. As general manager, he has helped put together teams that made postseason appearances each of the club's first two seasons while claiming their first division crown in 2003. The franchise was rewarded for its hard work following its inaugural season when it was awarded the AFL's prestigious Commissioner's Award, which is presented to the organization that displays excellence both on and off the field.

On the NFL side, Jones joined the Dallas Cowboys Football Club in 1996 as Vice President and General Counsel after working a year at a Dallas law firm. Jones spent his early years with the club negotiating rookie contracts, local radio and television broadcast agreements, as well as sponsorship agreements. Since then, he has taken on the role of Chief Sales & Marketing Officer. In 2001, to help further the Dallas Cowboys marketing and brand image initiatives, Jones became the President of Dallas Cowboys Merchandising, Ltd. (DCM) and President and General Manager of the Dallas Desperados.

In his role as the Dallas Cowboys Chief Sales and Marketing Officer/Vice President, Jones is responsible for designing and implementing marketing strategies and coordinating all Internet and broadcast operations. He also serves on the NFL's Marketing Executives Committee.

When first arriving with the club in 1996, Jones was instrumental in launching the Dallas Cowboys official website, www.dallascowboys.com, which became a model for the NFL and sports teams to follow. The Cowboys website continues to be at the forefront of internet technology and has become one of the NFL's most comprehensive and innovative team pages. This dedication to internet technology also spawned the Desperados official website - www.dallasdesperados.com.

Jones's experience in contract negotiations includes involvement in all Dallas Cowboys local radio and television broadcast agreements, rookie player contracts and sponsorship agreements. In September 2004, Jones played a principal role in the introduction of the Dallas Cowboys channel, a 24-hour cable channel devoted to original Dallas Cowboys programming, broadcast throughout the state of Texas and five-state area.

In 2001, Jones became President of Dallas Cowboys Merchandising (DCM), a company formed by the Jones family to design, manufacture and distribute Dallas Cowboys merchandise throughout the world. To date, the Cowboys are still the only major league sports team to do this, enabling their fans to have the unique opportunity to enjoy the authenticity of team merchandise and memorabilia, straight from the source. Under Jones's leadership, DCM and the Dallas Cowboys continue to thrive as one of the top teams in NFL sales for the last 20 years.

As President of DCM, Jones also oversees the team's retail and wholesale company which was established in 1996 following Super Bowl XXX, with the opening of the first mall store location. The next year, game-day retail operations were brought inhouse, along with the opening of four additional mall locations. By 2000, DCM had grown to include 16 mall stores, catalog and internet shopping opportunities and a thriving game-day sales operation. In the last four years, DCM mall stores have more than doubled to 35 retail locations throughout Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and Arkansas.

Jones, born Sept. 27, 1969, earned his law degree from Southern Methodist University in 1995. He completed his undergraduate coursework at Georgetown University, where he majored in political science and graduated with a BA in 1992.
